Employment problems touch both income and reputation. Al-Amthal advises employers on contracts and workplace policies, and represents employers and employees in dismissal and end of service disputes before the Egyptian courts. Our labour lawyers in Cairo explain the rules plainly, including the changes brought by Egypt's new Labour Law No. 14 of 2025.

When employers and employees need a labour lawyer

Employers come to us to draft contracts, internal work regulations and disciplinary rules, to plan a restructuring, or to answer a claim. Employees come when they are dismissed, when wages or bonuses are withheld, or when they are asked to sign a resignation they did not choose. Both sides gain from early advice, because many employment disputes are decided by what was written, or not written, at the start.

Egypt's Labour Law No. 14 of 2025 replaced the previous labour law and changed the rules on employment contracts, termination and the settlement of labour disputes. Contracts and policies written under the old law should now be reviewed.

How we handle an employment matter

We start with the documents: the contract, payslips, social insurance records, warnings and any termination letter. We then explain the legal position, the basis of any claim, and which evidence is still missing.

Many disputes are settled through negotiation or the amicable settlement stage at the labour authority before a case is filed, and we take part in those talks. If a case is needed, we represent you before the labour courts and on appeal. For employers, we also review dismissal decisions before they are taken, which avoids many cases altogether.

Egyptians working in the Gulf and Gulf employers in Egypt

Many of our clients are Egyptians employed in Kuwait, the UAE and Saudi Arabia, or Gulf companies that employ staff in Egypt. For work in Egypt we act before the Egyptian courts. For employment in the Gulf, we give legal consultations and studies on contracts and end of service entitlements through our offices in Kuwait and Dubai, so you understand your position before you sign or leave. We do not plead before Kuwaiti or Emirati courts. Gulf companies with staff in Egypt also need contracts and policies that follow Egyptian law, which differs from the rules they apply at home.

Questions clients ask

Can my employer in Egypt dismiss me without notice?

Egyptian labour law sets out when an employer may end a contract and what notice or compensation is due. Dismissal for a serious fault follows its own procedure. If you are dismissed without a lawful reason, you may be entitled to compensation. Bring your contract and the termination letter so we can assess your case.

What should an employment contract in Egypt include?

At a minimum, the names of the parties, the job, the wage and how it is paid, the place of work, the start date and the duration of the contract. Working hours, probation, leave and confidentiality should also be clear. Contracts written under the old labour law should be reviewed against the new one. We draft and update contracts for employers.

Can you help with my end of service rights in Kuwait or the UAE?

We give legal consultations and written studies on Gulf employment contracts and end of service entitlements through our offices in Kuwait and Dubai. We explain your rights and options before you sign or resign. If a case must be filed before a Kuwaiti or Emirati court, it is handled by a lawyer licensed there.
